Mi Mami
I was actually supposed to do this post on May 10th, which is when Mexico celebrates mothers day, but I got lazy.
Yesterday I was telling all my friends a story from our trip to Guanajuato. The city has this night tour where they take you around important areas around the central part of the town to tell you the history and stories of the city. The thing is they tell it to you using a Mariachi band, basically through song. They give us this weird and specialized “cup” before the tour filled with sangria. We were nearing the end of the tour when my mom turns to us, raises her glass, and says “I’m so DRUNK!”. My cousin Ruben and I turn to each other, then look back at her and say “But this is Non-Alcoholic sangria”. She stares at her cup then looks up at us and says “Oh”.
I love that moment.
I often find it difficult to adequately express the overwhelming love and appreciation I feel for my mom.
But I am sure she knows she means the world to me.
Happy Mother’s Day Ama.
And Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mom’s.
